A Global Vision for Medicine and Healthcare
Name Ali Rae
School Columbia University
Major Public Health
“Public health is a great opportunity to affect positive change for Muslims and other minority groups in the United States and abroad, who experience discrimination in healthcare access and quality.
Ultimately, my goal is to have a bigger positive impact on my patients’ health than I could in the clinic alone. I want to accomplish this by acquiring an intimate knowledge of global epidemiology and modern policy interventions, then refining and marketing these models for practical implementation. This would likely take the form of clinical research at an academic institution and participation in NGOs or national institutes that implement these models, such as the World Health Organization or National Institutes of Health. I expect that this program will broaden my perspective and provide me with the tools to be a better agent of positive change for people at both the domestic and international level.”
